EAMCET Counselling Proceedure - 2008
After EAMCET the toughest time for an engineering aspirant comes in the form of counseling for admission into colleges.Since they have to choose the course that would stay with them forever, students obviously are under tremendous pressures.
Authorities, however, make arrangements to ensure that the process is a smooth affair enabling students to pick course and college without encountering any problems.
The addition of Kadapa as the 6th centre to the existing centres at Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Guntur, Tirupati and Warangal had helped students of Rayalaseema region cut down trael expenses and save time. Counselling would be held simultaneously at all the six centers.
The Department of Technical Education (DTE), which conducts counseling issues notification in all the major newspapers giving details about the ranks to be called each day and the certificates to be brought to the counseling centres various categories.
COUNSELLING PROCEDURE
As per the existing procedure students need to bring their SSC and Intermediate memoranda of marks, study certificate from 6th class to Intermeidate, caste cetificte issued by the MRO or RDO , whichever is applicable and the income certificate. For non-local candidates, a document certifying 10 years of residence in the State has to be obtained.
The rankers invited for the day will first be sent into the waiting hall. From there, they will be called to the registration counter where the students will register name, hall ticket number, rank category and time of reporting and finally affix their signature on the form.
Then they will move to the verification counter where a counselling officer will check all the original certificates. If the documents are intact, a sheet will be pinned on the certificates. Students have to go through a final certification of their documents once again. A similar procedure will be followed at all the centres in the State. Candidates will them move to the actual counseling counter.
The counseling officer there will feed the rank and hall-ticket number into the computer, which will display the seats available in various courses in all the college for the students to decide. Counselling officers will also give information about the college, hostel facilities and the faculty.
The students need to fill in a form giving five options of the courses and colleges. Based on their choice, the complete information is displayed on the computer to them. The students need to take the final decision in consultation with one of the parents allowed to be present at the allotment counter.
The moment candidates write their option, the counseling officer will feed it into they system that would land in the main server. Options from all over the State will also land in the main server and the software has been designed in such a way that the allotment will be done in the sequence of ranks. The students will be given a chance to verigy all the details such as the college choosen and course allotted before the allotment order is cleared.
One-Stop experience
Once the allotment order is cleared, the students will have to move to the bank counters of different banks located inside the counseling centers to pay the prescribed fee. Befor leaving the premises, the candidates will be given the fee receipt and provisional allotmen t order. Going by the past experience more than 150 students are allotted seats in an hour in all the six centers.
FULL INFORMATION
Even as the students go through this procedure, they can decide upon their choice of course and college form the huge screens that display the availability of the combination of seats, courses and college. The constant update splashed on the screens help students make up their mind about the stream and college based on the availability of seats even before they go to the allotment counter.
Candidates need not be apprehensive of lower rank students getting admitted before the higher ranked students. The software is designed in such a way that the computer would not accept the allotment if it is not done in the sequence of ranks. Suppose a 100th ranker in Vishakapatnam moves to the counseling counter before a 50th ranker in Hyderabad , the computer would accept the 100th ranker’s choice only after the 99th ranker’s choice is cleared.
The allotment are displayed on the huge secreens giving all details such as the candidates name , hall-ticket number ,course chosen, category they belong to and the college preferred. The information splashed simultaneously in all the counseling centers in the State ensures that no mischief is played while allotting the seats.
Generally, the general category seats are filled in the first phase giving chance to every candidate to compete. In the second phase special category candidates like the children of Armed Personnel (CAP), NCC, sports and others are called followed by counseling will be held for the general category again. For details students can look for the notification in major newspapers.
Local and non-local
There is no reservation for non-locals , as many perceive Non-local students can only compete for maximum of 15% of seats along with the local candidates. To put it simply, there cannot be more than 15% of non-local students in any college even if they get the best ranks. It applies to all three regions—Osmania University , Andhra University and Sri Venkateshwara University.

Law Courses in India

B.A. L.L.B: This is a 5-year course and the students can pursue this course after passing Class 12.

L.L.B:
This is a 3-year course, open for graduates.

L.L.M:
This is a postgraduate course in Law. The duration of the course is 2year. Students can pursue this course after completing B.A. L.L.B. or L.L.B.

There are various specialized branches of Law. These include:

  1. Civil Law
    What is Civil Law?

Civil law seeks to resolve non-criminal disputes such as disagreements over the meaning of contracts, property ownership, divorce, child custody, and damages for personal and property damage. A civil court is a place where people can solve their problems with people peacefully. The function of civil law is to provide a legal remedy to solve problems. Sometimes civil law is based on a state or federal statute; at other times civil law is based on a ruling by the court.

    TYPES OF CIVIL CASES

Civil law covers a wide spectrum of topics. Some of these topics are:

    • Consumer law
    • International law
    • Agricultural law
    • Employment law
    • Animal law
    • Entertainment law
    • Business law
    • Family law
    • Sports law
    • Tax law
    • Intentional torts such as libel, slander, defamation of character, battery and assault.

  2. Criminal law

Criminal Law or penal law involves prosecution by the government of a person for an act that has been classified as a crime. It is the body of statutory and common law that deals with crime and the legal punishment of criminal offenses. There are four theories of criminal justice: punishment, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation. It is believed that by imposing sanctions for the crime, society can achieve justice and a peaceable social order.

    Criminal Law deals with:

Arson, Assault, Battery, Bribery, Burglary, Child Abuse, Child Pornography, Computer Crimes, Controlled Substances, Credit Card Fraud, Criminal Defense, Drugs and Narcotics, DUI/DWI, Embezzlement, Expungements, Felonies, Fraud, Homicide, Identity Theft, Internet and Cyberspace Crime, Manslaughter, Money Laundering, Murder, Perjury, Prostitution, Rape, RICO, Robbery, Sex Crimes, Shoplifting, Theft, Weapons, White Collar Crime and Wire Fraud among others.

  3. Corporate law
Corporate Law is the area of law focusing on the legal methods of obtaining an official charter or articles of incorporation from the state for an organization, which may be a profit-making business, a professional business such as a law office or medical office or a non-profit entity which operates for charitable, social, religious, civic or other public service purposes and the legal ramifications of such an organization-business formation law. Corporations are governed by state corporation laws. Other laws that govern business operations include consumer protection law, contract laws, labor and employment law, anti-trust and trade regulation laws, securities, and others that deal with the day-to-day operations of a corporation<

  4. Administration Law

Administrative law is the body of law that governs the activities of administrative agencies of government. Government agency action can include rulemaking, adjudication, or the enforcement of a specific regulatory agenda. Administrative law is considered a branch of public law. As a body of law, administrative law deals with the decision-making of administrative units of government (e.g., tribunals, boards or commissions) that are part of a national regulatory scheme in such areas as police law, international trade, manufacturing, the environment, taxation, broadcasting, immigration and transport. Administrative law expanded greatly during the twentieth century, as legislative bodies worldwide created more government agencies to regulate the increasingly complex social, economic and political spheres of human interaction.

  5. Cyber law

Cyber crimes can involve criminal activities that are traditional in nature, such as theft, fraud, forgery, defamation and mischief, all of which are subject to the Indian Penal Code. The abuse of computers has also given birth to a gamut of new age crimes that are addressed by the Information Technology Act, 2000.

We can categorize Cyber crimes in two ways

    The Computer as a target:-
using a computer to attack other computers.
    E.g.
Hacking, Virus/Worm attacks, DOS attack etc.
The computer as a weapon :-
using a computer to commit real world crimes.
    E.g.
Cyber Terrorism, IPR violations, Credit card frauds, EFT frauds, Pornography etc.
Cyber Crime regulated by Cyber Laws or Internet Laws.

  6. Labour Law

Laws which deal with employees and employers and the relationship between them. Labour laws cover things like job security, industrial agreements, strikes and conciliation and arbitration.

  7. Constitutional Law
Law that relates to the constitution, as a permanent system of political and juridical government,as distinguished from statutory and common law ,which relate to matters subordinate to such constitution.

  8. Patent Law

The term patent usually refers to a right granted to anyone who invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof. The additional qualification utility patent is used in the United States to distinguish it from other types of patents (e.g. design patents) but should not be confused with utility models granted by other countries. Examples of particular species of patents for inventions include biological patents, business method patents, chemical patents and software patents.

Career Opportunities in Aviation Industry

Still amongst the better-paid and more attractive jobs going, in popular imagery the profession of a pilot has a special mystique attached to it. So those who do succeed in realizing the almost universal childhood dream of earning their wings are generally a pretty pleased lot. Although the employment scenario has been tight in the last decade, thanks to the waves of change sweeping the ‘civil aviation industry and the entry of several new private and international airlines, more aspirants may be able to realize this dream in the near future.

Aviation sector has opened avenues for Pilots, Co-Pilots, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Cabin Crew, Technicians and Ground Duty Service Officers. In 2003-04, India had only three domestic airlines with 123 commercial jets. But today, the scenario has changed.

If a person has a scientific bent of mind, he can opt for a career as a Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, etc. and if a person is good at communication and interpersonal skills, she/he can consider a career as an Air Hostess or a Flight Steward.

Commercial pilots are employed by national airlines like Indian Airlines or Air India and by private airlines as well as by foreign airlines. With the Asia Pacific region emerging as the pivot of the world, the aviation industry in India is poised for takeoff. From a mere 175 aircrafts in 2004, it is expected that by 2010 around 400 odd aircrafts will zip across the Indian skies.

The aviation industry employs about 3000 pilots and there is an immediate shortage of 450 planes that will be added to the activity expanding Indian fleet in the next five years and a shortage of additional 4,500 pilots stares us in the face (Total requirement: 7500 pilots by 2010)

Training to be a pilot can be a pretty expensive affair that can push you into a financial air pocket! From April 2001 all DGCA-subsidized rates have been discontinued. However, various states offer separate subsidies of varying amounts up to the PPL stage. Considering the high cost of aviation fuel, you have to pay the steep commercial rate, which is in the region of Rs.2750-3500 per hour. 40 free flying scholarships are awarded to SC/ST trainee pilots every year. Under this scheme, apart from free flying training, student pilots receive financial aid.

While a private school may charge as much as Rs.15-20 lakh, the cost of obtaining a CPL in a government-sponsored school works out to Rs.10 lakh plus boarding and lodging, which add up to another Rs.1, 500/- p.m.

Salaries for commercial pilots are very attractive, ranging anywhere from Rs.40, 000/- to whopping Rs.4 lakh p.m., depending on the airline. Besides the obvious thrill of going places and seeing the world in five-star comfort, there are several attractive perks that go with the job.

Where to Look for Work:
Besides Indian there are several private airlines like Jet Airways, Sahara, Air Deccan, Kingfisher, currently expanding their fleet and range of operations in India. There are several other international airlines that operate through India like United Airlines, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic, Quantas, KLM, Lufthansa, United Airlines, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Thai Airways, Malaysian Airlines and China Airlines to name a few.

You could start off as a trainee pilot on smaller aircraft. Besides large corporate houses that own private aircraft, there are about 40 aviation companies in the country that rent out helicopters and small aircraft (for a fee of Rs.30, 000-Rs.1.30 lakh per hour + 15% air travel tax.)

Helicopter Pilots:
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd’s (HAL) Rotary Wing Academy at Bangaluru would be a good bet. However in compliance with the flight-safety requirements that are being followed worldwide, the DGCA has recently upped the mandatory flying time from the present 100 hours to 150 hours before the CHPL can be issued. So correspondingly, the earlier fee of Rs.10 lakh, which makes it rather steep. Also I’ve heard some rumblings about the non-availability of training aircraft. But on the flip side, the placements for helicopter pilots are far better than their CPL counterparts.

Lest you think this is only a male prerogative, remember Indian Airlines was the first to have a women pilot (Durba Bannerjee) command the wide bodied Airbus 300 way back in the early 60’s. Today it has scores of women Airbus pilots on its rolls. The Indian Air Force has over 200.

Those who qualify in the written examination have to appear for a group discussion followed by a personal interview of successful candidates. If selected, the applicant will be on training for two to three months in which one can learn about service, grooming, safety and first aid, after which one is initially put on trainee flights.

Flight Training
The flight training covers several topics, each of which deals with technical or nontechnical aspects of the aircraft.

Beginning with the history of aviation, the candidates are made to learn in-flight service, passenger handling, passenger psychology, service of meals on the aircraft, the art of conversation, transactional analysis, emergency evacuation system, personal grooming and hygiene, First Aid, confidence building, handling of visually impaired passengers, making announcements, emergency demonstration, etc.

Prospects
There is a great demand for Air Hostesses/Flight Stewards in the Aviation sector.

Flight Purser
After three to five years, depending upon your performance, Flight Steward/Air Hostess is eligible to become a Flight Purser. Your responsibilities increase as you take over the charge of the Cabin Crew on board. Salaries generally get double up.

Ground Job:
You can join here directly or after having served on the flight for long, you can opt for ground jobs in sections like staff-training and human resource management in the corporate office.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineers play a stellar role in Aviation sector as they are the ones who ensure that the aircraft is in a perfect condition before take-off. An engineer needs to be completely focused on safety as the casual attitude can pose a danger to the lives of people on board.

The Aircraft Engineer has to certify the aircraft fit for release. The job ensures the availability of safe aircraft at the best possible cost. The Engineering and Maintenance department of an airline performs scheduled and unscheduled tasks, leading to restoration of the expected airworthiness.

The job includes diagnostic and mechanical duties covering maintenance, repair, trouble shooting and overhaul, in addition to performing inspection and modification on an aircraft.
